Evocative Spaces
Evocative based games rely on the player having existing knowledge on the subject within the game. The Lego game are a good example as Lego Star Wars & Lego Batman are games which are based on the original films. Although players don't need to have watched the film to know how the story is progressing, most players would play these games because they already have background knowledge of the films so that they can enjoy them to a greater extent.
Enacting Stories
Enacting stories based games are where the player has to make their way from point A to B. The player has to work their way across the map which has obstacles to make the level difficult and perks which will give you an advantage through the level. A great example of this is the game 'Super Mario'. In the Mario games you have to get from one point, avoid obstacles, collect perks to gain an advantage and reach the final point in the level to progress.
Embedded Narrative
An example of games which have this kind of narrative are detective games, such as L.A Noire, where the player have to go through the game in chronological order to solve the crime. They will be pre-structed where you have to follow the game and how it is set out to and the player will have to unlock stages by progressing. In constrast, this narrative can also rather unstructered where the player has the freedom to explore and discover aspects which will help the development of the story.
Emergent Narratives
Games like the Sims, you are free to do what you want within the game, but it has a stuctured style in a sence because you are limited to certain things by the game but you control how the game flows and the path of your game. You decide what you player does for a living, what your player does to relax, where they go and what they do. Your player can also do their own thing and in some sences, you can be restricted, by what you can do.Another example is Grand theft Auto where you are free to roam the open world environment, do what you want, and chose what missions you do first, but the story line is set in path so you are restricted some what.
